General Description of Service. The Village of Clinton contracts with Great Lakes Waste Systems to haul residential refuse and recycling. The refuse collection is limited to four disposal containers, weighing no more than 50 pounds each, conventional garbage cans, or bags per week. The contractor will collect normal residential refuse, however, will not collect building materials, large items, or organic yard waste. The refuse can be placed at curbside after 5:00 PM on Thursday for a Friday collection. The collection day will be the very next day during holidays.
Detailed Description of Items Collected. Refuse is defined as any and all dead animals of less than 10 pounds in weight except those slaughtered for human consumption; every accumulation of waste (animal, vegetable and/or other matter) that results from preparation, processing, consumption, dealing in, handling, packing, canning, storage, transportation, decay or decomposition of meats, fish, foul, birds, fruits, grains or other animal or vegetable matter (including but not by way of limitation used tin cans and other food containers); and all or easily decomposable waste matter or vegetable matter which is likely to attract flies or rodents); except any matter included in the definition of bulky waste, construction debris, dead animals, hazardous waste, rubbish or stable matter.
Spring and fall cleanup programs. There will be a spring and fall cleanup programs
to allow home owners an opportunity to dispose of large items. The cost of this service will be paid by each resident on a per item basis. The contractor will publish at least two notices of the cleanup date in the Clinton Local Newspaper.
The contractor will collect limited recycling materials on the collection day. Great Lakes Refuse and Recycling Collection will Provide one standard curbside container of 14 to 20 gallons for each household. They will collect recycling material including newspapers, glass, tin cans and plastic milk containers.
