Village of Clinton

October 4, 2010

 

The meeting opened at 7:00 pm.

 

Members present were President Mowery, Dianne Davis, Carl Habrick, Larry Sines, Joe Orban, and Todd Morgan.  Laurence Peters was absent.

 

Motion was made by Sines and seconded by Orban to approve the September 8, 2010 council minutes.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion was made by Morgan and seconded by Orban to approve the checks written for the period ending September 30, 2010.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Council asked that a thank you letter be sent to the Fall Festival Committee for another successful Festival.  Council also authorized sending thank you letters to C&D Hughes Inc., Barrett Paving Materials, and Washtenaw Engineering for their hard work getting Tecumseh Road ready for Fall Festival.

 

Council was updated on the Woolen Mill reclamation case.

 

Council discussed the electric cost of service study.  A public hearing will be scheduled for November to discuss lowering electric rates.  Council was supportive.

 

Council discussed electric transmission and climate change issues.

 

Motion was made by Morgan and seconded by Sines to authorize the President and Clerk to execute the Supplement to the Power Sales Contract dated March 10, 2010.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and second by Davis to authorize the Village Manger to execute the Non-Litigation and Related Matters Certificate.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Council was updated on the Michigan Medical Marijuana law.  The Village is working with the Township Planning Commission and attorney to draft regulations for Michigan’s medical marijuana law.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Orban to receive and file the Council information packet.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Morgan to authorize the Village Manager to submit the Michigan Municipal League ballot as presented.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The following comments were from Council.  Dianne Davis and Todd Morgan complimented the Fall Festival Committee on a great Fall Festival and

Carl Habrick asked why there are not more cross walks on Tecumseh Road.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Orban to adjourn.  Motion carried unanimously.
