Village of Clinton

July 6, 2009

 

The meeting opened at 7:00 pm.

 

Members present were President Mowery, Dianne Davis, Carl Habrick, Laurence Peters, Larry Sines, and Joe Orban.  Todd Morgan was absent.

 

Motion was made by Sines and seconded by Davis to approve the June 1, 2009 open and closed minutes.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Mr. Mickey Grech, Clinton Township Planning Commission addressed council on having a farmers market.  Tentative date is July 18, 2009 at the Village office parking lot.

 

Motion was made by Peters and seconded by Habrick to approve the checks written for the period ending June 30, 2009.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Council discussed Olde Tyme Pizza request for a drive through window.  Action was tabled until Council receives direction from the Planning Commission.

 

Council discussed the MERS 2008 actuarial report.

 

Council was updated on the wastewater treatment plant cash flow projections.

 

Council was updated on the electric energy usage report.

 

Council discussed the solicitation ordinance.

 

Motion was made by Orban and seconded by Davis to authorize the distribution of the Master Land Use Plan to the neighboring units of government for comment.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The Clinton Little League will hold the State Championship tournament at Tate Park on July 25, 2009 at 12:00 pm.

 

Council voted on the Michigan Municipal League workers compensation ballot.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Orban to receive and file the council information packet.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The Village Manager updated Council on the letter from the Road Commission concerning Tecumseh Road.

 

The following comments were from Council.  Dianne Davis would like to have a thank you letter sent to Mrs. Patti Butzke for caring for the parking lot and fire department flowers, and asked if there was a new business in the Clinton Tecumseh Warehousing building.  Carl Habrick asked for an update on the houses that needed repairs, the status of the GIS mapping, wanted more compost at the compost site, and asked about insurance for the Santa and Easter Egg Hunt events.

 

President Mowery invited Representative Mark Schauer to attend a Council meeting to explain why he voted for the cap and trade bill.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Orban to adjourn.  Motion carried unanimously.
