Village of Clinton

June 1, 2009

 

The meeting opened at 7:00 pm.

 

Members present were President Mowery, Dianne Davis, Carl Habrick, Larry Sines, Joe Orban, and Todd Morgan.  Laurence Peters was absent.

 

Motion was made by Sines and seconded by Orban to approve the May 4, 2009 Council minutes.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The public hearing opened at 7:02 PM.  Council received public comments on a conditional use request for a home occupation to have a therapeutic message business in the home.  The public hearing closed at 7:05 PM.

 

Motion was made by Morgan and seconded by Davis to approve the conditional use request for a home therapeutic message business at 407 Oak Tree.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Morgan to approve the checks written for the period ending May 31, 2009.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Council discussed the 2010-11 draft budget.

 

Council discussed the Tate Park grant project cost estimate.

 

Council discussed the proposed DDA construction projects.  DDA would like to improve the Village Office parking lot alley, the south alley, and Monument Park.

 

Motion was made by Orban and seconded by Habrick to authorize the survey work for the Village Office parking lot alley not to exceed $900.00.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Davis to pay $1,125.00 to  the City of Tecumseh to help pay for safety improvements to Tecumseh’s Gun Range which the Village uses without charge for police fire arms training. Motion carried unanimously.

 

Council was updated on the Road Commission’s comments on Tecumseh Road.

 

Council was presented with the first reading of the solicitation ordinance.

 

The 2009 Little League State Championship Tournament will be held at Tate Park on July 25, 2009 at 12:00 pm.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Orban to receive and file the Council information packet.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The following comments were from council.  Dianne Davis congratulated the Clinton graduates. Carl Habrick wanted to know what happened to the compost pile and does Hardwoods sell their mulch?

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Morgan to go into close session so the Village’s labor attorney could provide legal advice concerning specific legal issues.  Motion carried unanimously with a roll call.  Close session started at 7:50 PM.  Open session started at 8:19 PM.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Orban to adjourn.  Motion carried unanimously.
