Village of Clinton

May 5, 2008

 

The meeting opened at 7:00 PM.

 

Members present were President Mowery, Carl Habrick, Dianne Davis, Laurence Peters, Larry Sines, Joe Orban, and Todd Morgan.

 

Motion was made by Sines and seconded by Davis to approve the open and closed council minutes of April 7, 2008.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Public hearing opened at 7:02 PM.  Council received public comments on an Industrial Facilities Exemption for Michigan Pallet Inc. pursuant to Public Act 198 of 1974.  Public hearing closed at 7:04 PM. 

 

Motion was made by Sines and seconded by Morgan to adopt Resolution Number 08-08.  A resolution approving Michigan Pallet Inc. Industrial Facilities Exemption certificated for construction of a new building and installation of new machinery and equipment.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Amy Palmer, Lenawee United Way, addressed Council on the 211 phone service that will be available later this summer.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Peters to approve checks written for the period ending April 30, 2008.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Council discussed the Department of Treasury fiscal indicators.

 

Council was updated on the park grant funding.

 

Council discussed the proposed removal of the old generators and building.  Council was supportive of entering into a contract for the removal of three old generators and the old storage building on Railroad Street.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Morgan to adopt the Future Land Use Map for the west development area.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Peters to receive and file the Council information packet.  Motion carried unanimously.

 

The following comments were from Council.  Dianne Davis said there is a World War I display at the Clinton Library.  Carl Habrick asked for an update on the new Village Welcome sign at Tate Park and when will the improvement to the pavilion start.  Larry Sines asked about the rezoning next month.  Joe Orban asked about the completion of the new bridge.  Todd Morgan had a question about the May 6, 2008 meeting with the Clinton Woolen Mill. 

 

Motion was made by Habrick and seconded by Morgan to adjourn.  Motion carried unanimously.
